30 years ago some of the biggest games were text-based. There were no graphics but the games were still enjoyable. One of the biggest creators of these games was Infocom and one of Infocom's most popular games was The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. The game was based on the popular novel by Douglas Adams.
The BBC has launched a new version of the game to celebrate its 30th anniversary. The HTML 5 version of the game features graphics, a keyboard and direction controls. You can type using your actual keyboard as well. The game also tracks your moves, score and awards. You can play the game here. The game will kill you frequently so you are advised to save your game once you have made it far enough so that you can restore it.
