Developer to Remove Flappy Bird Game From App Stores
Posted on February 9, 2014
Flappy Bird is being removed from iTunes and Google Play by developer Dong Nguyen. Nguyen tweeted, "I am sorry 'Flappy Bird' users, 22 hours from now, I will take 'Flappy Bird' down. I cannot take this anymore."
In the game you control the Flappy Bird by tapping to flap its wings. You have to avoid running into the pipes. The game has reportedly been downloaded 50 million times already and is extremely popular. People are mystified as to why Nguyen is removing such as a successful game. The Verge reports that the game was making $50,000 a day from in-app advertisements. Nguyen's dotGears studio has several other mobile games and The Verge says he is planning to add new ones.
