Jay-Z, Reebok and EA's NBA Live 07
Posted on October 9, 2006
Jay-Z is suddenly a talented basketball player -- at least in the video game world. Jay-Z's character in NBA Live 07 (Electronic Arts) was modeled after Jay-Z's favorite NBA players. According to a recent press release, Jay-Z will boast the baseline to baseline quickness of Allen Iverson, the above-the-rim leaping ability of Baron Davis and the three-point touch of Peja Stojakovic among others.
Jay-Z's appearance in NBA Live 07 is part of an advertising concept devised by Reebok and EA. If you purchase the new Reebok S.Carter Basketball IV shoe at Champs Sports you will receive a unique unlockable code to access the Jay-Z character.
Jay-Z said in a statement, "NBA Live has always been one of my favorite games and I'm excited to play the latest edition and to be a part of it."
There is no way the rapper Jay-Z could be anywhere near this good at basketball. He might be awful at basketball in real life, but gamers will likely want to use the super talented Jay-Z character anyway. Maybe EA Sports should give us some singer character as well. We hope there will soon be an unlockable code for Jlo so she can steal the ball and dunk over Jay-Z's head.
