Spike TV is broadcasting the second annual Video Game Awards tonight. The show was a hit last year with over 1.2 million viewers. Spike TV is expecting even more interest in the awards this year. Spike TV senior vice president of marketing Marc Edwards told GameSpot in an interview that over 2.5 million people have voted online.

Spike TV offers a Flash website for the show which does a great job of highlighting all the games that are up for awards. Game of the Year nominees include: Burnout 3: Takedown (Electronic Arts), Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (Rockstar Games), Half-Life 2 (Vivendi Universal Games), Halo 2 (Microsoft Game Studios), Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (Konami). The Video Game Awards offers awards in 24 categories including Hottest Video Vixens, Best Driving Game, Best Game Based on a Movie and Best Sports Game. New categories this year include Designer of the Year and Best New Technology. The show is hosted by actor and hip hop performer Snoop Dogg and will air at 9PM EST/ 8PM CST.
