Sony is cutting the price of the 60 gigabyte Sony PlayStation 3 model by $100. The 60 gigabyte PS3 will fall from $599 to $499. The company has faced continual pressure from Nintendo's popular Wii game system. Sony is coming out with an 80 gigabyte unit that will include a racing game called MotorStorm and retail for $599. The new unit will be available in August.
Sony spokesman David Karraker told the AP that the larger machine will help the company's plan of eventually offering downloaded movies, video games, demos and more. Details on the movie download plan will be released in the future.
