Sony Sells 500,000 PSPs in Two Days
Posted on April 13, 2005
Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc. said the first week sales of the PlayStation Portable (PSP) generated more than $150 million at North American retailers. Sony said it sold over 500,000 PSP Value Packs in the first two days alone. Over 1 million PSP's have also been sold in Japan. Some industry insiders have been critical of Sony's idea to include music and movie players in the device along with the gaming technology. However, the Gizmondo which will be out in late May has a similar strategy. The Gizmondo includes a digital camera, music player, movie player, GPS, Bluetooth technology, messaging software and game player.
