Sony to Make Movie Based on The Last of Us

Sony is making a movie based on The Last of Us PS3 video game from Naughty Dog. The Last of Us is set a post-apocalyptic world where a parasitic fungus, Cordyceps Brain Infection (CBI), has infected 60% of the population.

Deadline reports that the screenplay will be written by Neil Druckmann, who won the WGA Writing for Video Games award for writing the game. Sam Raimi is attached to the picture. Screen Gems is set to distribute the film.

MTV already has some ideas for who should play Ellie. They include Willow Shields, Hailee Steinfeld, Amandla Stenberg, Maisie Williams, Elle Fanning and Isabelle Fuhrman.
