Store Offers Sony PlayStation 3 Pre-Orders

The BBC reports that a European retailer named Play.com has listed a pre-order for the Sony PlayStation 3. The system is not due to be released until November.
Sony's PlayStation 3 (PS3) has gone on sale on the web despite not being launched until November this year. The next generation consoles are on offer as "pre-orders" to Europeans for 550 ($1,020) at online shop, play.com.
The website says that because of an expected European shortage, it cannot guarantee delivery before Christmas.
You can see the listing here. Play.com is selling pre-orders of the more expensive 60GB version for 550 ($1,020). After last year's Xbox 360 fiasco there will be concerns that supply shortages will make it hard for people to get the new PS3. If this happens you can expect PS3 prices to climb on eBay just like they did for the Xbox 360.
