TheBlu is an Interactive Digital Ocean App

TheBlu is a digital ocean that you can run on your computer as a screensaver. However, it is more than just a screensaver as artists all over the world can contribute to it. The creators of TheBlu say it is a combination of a game, movie and social media site:

TheBlu is not a game. It's not an animated movie. And, it's not a social media site. It fuses elements from all three media types into a new form of entertainment. Inspired by artistic expression and the global collaborative potential of the web, theBlu is a first example of what we refer to as "globally shared media and storytelling."

Digital artists and developers called Makers contribute species and habitats to the app. There is both a free version and a pro version ($19.99) available. You can find out more at the official site at Wevr.
